Chonburi coach Witthaya Laohkul is confident that the club will sign Japanese international Maki Seiichiro sometime within the next week. The 30 year old striker is expected to come over to Thailand in a day or two to train with the squad.

Coach Heng said, "We will look at him in training and, all being well, we will make the signing straight away. We believe that he may currently have a slight knee injury but this is nothing to worry about, as his overall condition is very good."

MAKI NOT COMING?

Hot on the heels of the saga of Vladimir Ribic's on/off move to Bangkok United, comes the news that Japanese international Maki Seiichiro may now not be joining Chonburi after all. Over the weekend, club officials seemed confident that the thirty year old striker would sign for the Sharks. However, it now appears that he will stay with his Chinese club Shenzhen Ruby, who have offered him another twelve month contract.

MAKI MOVE BACK ON AGAIN?
6th July, 2011
The Maki Seiichiro on/off transfer saga has taken another twist. The Japanese star, who seemed certain to sign for Chonburi last weekend, has returned to his home country after Shenzhen Ruby apparently withdrew their recent offer of a twelve month contract. This move has opened the door again for the Sharks, although they will face stiff competition from J-League clubs who are also interested in securing the striker's services.

Coach Heng admits it may be difficult to persuade the 30 year old striker to come to Thailand but has not given up hope. "We know that some Japanese clubs after him but we will do our best to sign him. If he agrees to come to Chonburi, we will offer him a contract immediately."

MAKI SEIICHIRO DEAL OFF
7th July, 2011
The ongoing saga of Maki Seiichiro's on/off move to Chonburi finally looks like it's over. The club offered the Japanese striker a six month contract but this was rejected by the player, who wanted a two year deal.

Coach Heng said, "We offered to sign him initially until the end of the season, to see how he coped in Thailand and how fit he was but he said he would only consider a two year deal. We are not too disappointed but it now looks like it is too late for us to sign a foreign player, as the transfer deadline is tomorrow."
