CHONBURI CRUISE AHEAD OF CITIZEN CLASH
by www.the-afc.com

Chonburi enjoyed a confidence-boosting 5-1 win over Esan United in the Thai Premier League (TPL) on Saturday prior to their departure to Hong Kong for the Wednesday's AFC Cup Matchday 4 clash with Citizen.

Inaugural AFC Champions League MVP Therdsak Chaiman, who came off the bench to open the scoring from the penalty spot in last Tuesday's AFC Cup Group G win over Citizen, was again on target at the Chonburi Stadium, with the 38-year-old former BEC Tero Sasana star giving the Sharks a second-minute lead.

Yai Nilwong levelled for the visitors just before the half-hour mark only for three goals in a nine-minute spell early in the second-half from former Togo international Thomas Dossevi, who is not part of Chonburi's AFC Cup squad, to turn the tide of the match firmly in the Sharks favour.

Bireme Diouf sealed the win with Chonburi's fifth on the stroke of full-time to put the AFC Cup Group G leaders in a confident state of mind ahead of Wednesday's meeting with Citizen, who are third in the table behind Singapore Armed Forces on goal difference.
