NEW!! Looking Forward To The Final by Tim Spear: 2021

Chonburi fan, Tim Spear, looks forward to Sunday's FA Cup final.

Val and I are really excited about this. For once, we missed the semi-final, due to a scheduled parents evening at school. Then, at 3pm, we were told that this would be cancelled due to Covid-19 in our community. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time for us to think about reorganising a trip to Bangkok.

We have had some poor results recently, but at the start of our poor run, we were playing well against the top teams. However, the games against Sukhothai, and in particular Rayong, were just woeful, so the result on Wednesday night was a little unexpected. In spite of the poor performances, Worachit was imperious against Trat last week and Channarong is really stepping up. The one touch football was back at last.

So, on to Sunday and we are already excited about the prospect of another cup final. It is now 10 years (well, 11) since we last won this trophy, with Therdsak and Pipob scoring at the National Stadium. This year will be different, but we have Eliandro who is playing well, and a team that have seriously underperformed all year. Maybe they are peaking? Maybe it will be another Thiagogate fiasco? But it does not really matter, as the occasion is ours to enjoy - and this we will do - in abundance!

Sadly, we'll all miss out on a nice day out to northern Bangkok, where we invariably have poor returns, but hope is what draws us to the games, and I for one have hope for Sunday. To have been able to get tickets and watch the game with Covid encircling would have been the biggest victory, but anything else will be fabulous, and we can just lap up every glorious minute of this occasion from our armchairs.

Roll on Sunday!
