Match Report
Now that’s better. Although we did make hard work of it. In truth, we should have been 4-0 up before Prachuap scored and, at one point, it did look like those missed chances would prove costly, as the vistors looked the likeliest to go on and win it, after drawing level midway through the second period.

The first half performance is just the kind I’d like to see repeated week after week – but for the full ninety minutes. Every single one of the players put in a shift and gave the impression that they wanted it more than their lofty opponents. There was definitely a feeling that they had something to prove and it was easily our best display since the opening weekend. We played some good football too. Which was encouraging. And, dare I say it, looked a lot more steely, without Worachit in the centre of the park.

After the break we did appear to sit back and let Prachuap come onto us, which was a big mistake. For long periods, all the old bad habits were back on show and the ‘Main Standers’ feared the worst. Most worrying was the apparent lack of leadership out on the field. There was no-one geeing people up and talking to team mates. However, it was good to see Pipob leap out of his seat a couple of times to urge the players on. He needs to do it more.

I guess we also have to give credit to Jukkanpant for bringing on Si Thu Aung for the last quarter of an hour. The youngster was a reveation on the left wing and caused the defenders all kinds of problems, whilst taking the pressure off our own overworked back line. His cross for Lukian’s injury time winner was a thing of great beauty. And what a finish too. Needless to say, the ecstacy and relief that followed the ball hitting the net was something we all enjoyed!

But now the euphoria has died down, the hard work has to begin. We’ve proved that we can do it so now we have to be more consistent and play to our strengths. We have a tough task away at Bangkok Utd on Wednesday night, but there’s no better place to show that yesterday wasn’t a one off and we’re up for the battle. It would be great to come away from Thammasat with something. Over to you, boys!
