Former Tottenham and England keeper, Ian Walker, has expressed an interest in playing for Chonburi in the TPL. The 38 year old is currently coaching youngsters in the USA but would jump at the chance of first team football again. It is believed that club officials will meet with Walker when the Chonburi Academy team visit Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife and son, next week. According to the official website, the Watford born stopper, would consider a wage cut in order to play for the Sharks.

Ian Walker Update

Ian Walker's proposed move to Chonburi took a step forward at the weekend. The former England keeper met with club officials in the USA, where he is currently coaching school children, and underlined his interest in coming to play in the TPL. An official statement from Chonburi FC said that having someone of Walker's pedigree at the club would help to raise our profile around the world and be a benefit to the league as a whole.

It went on to say that the ex-Tottenham stopper would hopefully be involved in a coaching capacity, not only with the Sharks but also in the local community. Money is still believed to be an issue but Walker intends to fly out to Thailand later this week for further discussions and will be the guest of honour at next Sunday's top of the table clash with Muang Thong.

Ian Walker Latest

The Ian Walker saga took another twist today, when the ex-England keeper is believed to have asked Chonburi to pay for flights to Thailand for his partner and child. Club officials in the USA had agreed to pay for Walker's air fare but feel the latest request will take them beyond what they want to shell out to bring the goalie over for a trial. The former Tottenham man was expected to be in attendance when Chonburi host Muang Thong in the top of the table clash on Sunday. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be coming after all.
