The Sharks are reportedly interested in signing Thai football's golden boy, Teerathep Winothai, from Muang Thong. Team manager, Annop Singtothong, is believed to be keen to bring "Leesaw", who has hardly featured for the first team at the Yamaha Stadium this season, to Chonburi. The same report suggests that Michael Byrne could go the other way as part of the deal.

Chonburi FC are still keen on signing Muang Thong United striker, Teerathep Winothai. The story first surfaced last week when the league champions announced their interest in taking Michael Byrne to the Thunderdome.

However, with the popular British midfielder agreeing terms with Bangkok Glass yesterday, a swap is now out of the question. But team manager, Annop Singtotong, hasn't ruled out the possibility of Leesaw joining the Sharks. Such a move would be welcomed by the fans and help to ease some of the frustration following Byrne's departure.

Leesaw Keen On Move To Chonburi?

According to some press reports, it appears that Teerathep Winothai is keen on a move to Chonburi. The popular striker, who has hardly featured for Muang Thong this season, has been quoted as saying that he would like to join the Sharks, mainly because he wants regular first team football.

Even though Leesaw is out of favour with the Muang Thong coach, he is still a vital part of the merchandising machine at the Yamaha Stadium, and this is understood to be one of the reasons why the top management are reluctant to let him leave. The Thai transfer window closes on the 9th of August so, one way or another, a decision will be made in the next seven days.

Witthaya Laohkul has admitted that he would still like to see Theerathep Winothai join the Sharks. Speaking earlier today, the club's Technical Director said that he greatly admired the Thai international striker and wanted to see him in a Chonburi shirt.

The experienced coach added, "We tried to sign him during the course of last season but Muang Thong weren't keen to see him come to us, even though we offered Michael Byrne in part exchange. I know he has rejoined BEC Tero but one day I would love to see him play for our team."

The former Golden Boy of Thai football has had an unhappy time since returning to the kingdom following an unsuccessful spell in Belgium. He struggled to get into Muang Thong's first eleven at the start of the 2010 season before going out on loan to BEC Tero, the club where he made his name.He also seems to be out of favour with the national team's coaching staff and hardly featured in the recent AFF Suzuki Cup.
