Season Review by Tim Banks: 2011

Tim Banks, an Englishman who lives in Bang Saen. Here are Tim's thoughts on the 2011 campaign and his hopes for 2012.

Q - What is your name?
A - Tim Banks

Q - Where do you live?
A - Bangsaen

Q - How long have you been supporting Chonburi FC?
A - 2 years

Q - How many matches did you manage to get to this year?
A – Twenty five in all competitions

Q - Which was your favourite match of the season?
A – Muang Thong United at the Yamaha Stadium in the league

Q - Who is your player of the season?
A – Pipob On-Mo

Q - Which was your favourite away trip of the season?
A – Muang Thong United on the 25th December

Q - Which was the best opposition team you saw this season?
A – Nasaf in the AFC Cup

Q - Who was the best opposition player you saw this season?
A - Frank Acheampong from, PEA

Q - What was your biggest disappointment of the season?
A – Losing on away goals against PEA in the League Cup

Q - What was the funniest thing that happened to you this season?
A – All dressed up with nowhere to go for the World Cup qualifier between Thailand and Australia. A breakdown in communication left me waiting on the wrong road and without a lift.

Q - What was your favourite individual incident of the season?
A – The Muang Thong fans singing Pipob’s name when he was knocked out at the Yamaha Stadium in the League Cup quarter final.

Q - What did the club get right this season?
A – Better stadium, better ticketing arrangements, excellent playing surface, the introduction of the Sharks CafĂ© and the club shop at Central Plaza.

Q - What did the club get wrong this season?
A – Poor foreign playing contingent, poor communication over the match bans, the 2012 price hikes.  I think they’ve also missed a chance to have eleven junior mascots - or at least change them every week – each match like PEA do. This would be a great marketing exercise.

Q - How do you rate the team's overall performance this season?
A – As expected, a “work in progress”.

Q - What are your hopes for 2012?
A – Stronger foreign imports, a consistent fixture list and for the TPL to try and act professionally

Q - Anything else you'd like to add?
A – I’d like to see better and proper security when we meet PEA. Also, in my opinion, I think the rise in admission charges will have an overall negative impact on attendances in 2012.
