King's Cup Shark Watch: 2010

How Chonburi's national team players performed during the 2010 King's Cup tournament in Nakorn Ratchasima.

Thailand 1-0 Singapore: Shark Watch
17/1/10
Thailand beat Singapore 1-0 in their opening King's Cup match at the SEA Games Stadium in Korat. Two Chonburi players were involved. Here is a brief summary of their performances.

Suttinan Phukhom
Rarely troubled in the right back position by a lacklustre Singapore attack. Tried to get forward at every opportunity but wasted a couple of good chances with poor final balls. Looked much more composed in the second period and passed the ball a lot more accurately. Unlucky to be booked in the 84th minute when he was adjudged to have gone in with his foot up.

Therdsak Chaiman
Came on as a 60th minute substitute when he replaced Datsakorn. Looked lively down the left hand side and even had a couple of opportunities to indulge in cheeky back heels. Moved into a more central role after about ten minutes and sprayed the ball around with precision. He was first to react when Sutee's penalty was saved but only managed to hit the subsequent shot straight at the keeper. Overall, a very good display.

Thailand 1-3 Poland: Shark Watch
21/1/10
Thailand were beaten 3-1 by a well organised Polish team in the 2nd round of King's Cup matches last night. Some Chonburi players featured. Here's a brief summary of how they performed.

Adul Lahso
Didn't really get into the game in a crowded midfield. Showed one or two neat touches but was replaced just before the hour mark. I hope that he gets another chance against Denmark on Saturday.

Chonlatit Jantakam (Pictured)
Seemed to relish the physical nature of the game and didn't shirk any challenges. Got his foot in a couple of times, when he was last man, to deny the Poles decent scoring opportunities. Possibly at fault with his marking for the first goal but otherwise a decent performance.

Suttinan Phukhom
Had an uncomfortable evening against a lively Polish attack. On the couple of occasions he did manage to get forward, his final ball left a lot to be desired. Substituted with 15 minutes left. Not one of his better games.

Therdsak Chaiman
Didn't get as much time and space as he did on Sunday but still showed good skill and awareness when he had the ball. Scored Thailand's consolation with a twice taken penalty in injury time, which he himself had won. Pleasing to see him play the full ninety minutes, especially against much younger opponents.

Thailand 0-3 Denmark: Shark Watch
23/1/10
Thailand were comprehensively beaten by Denmark in the final game of the King's Cup tournament in Korat. Chonburi players featured in the match, here's a brief summary of how they performed.

Chonlatit Jantakam
Looked uncomfortable in an unfamiliar role just in front of the back four. Didn't really get into the game and I'm struggling to remember him making a tackle. Disappointing.

Suttinan Phukhom
A much better display by the young right back. He tackled well and made a few important interceptions to break up Danish attacks. Went close at the other end on two occasions, having a shot cleared off the line and heading just wide with the last touch of the game.

Therdsak Chaiman
Came on for the last ten minutes and was his usual busy self. Used the ball well, mainly with short accurate passing, and covered plenty of ground. Played one sublime ball over the defenders to set up a decent chance late on.
