On The Road - ToT: 2012

A report on my trip to the much maligned ToT Stadium, on March 31st, 2012.

Stadium
TOT Stadium, Chaeng Wattana, Lak Si, Bangkok

Transport
Fan club bus from SriRacha

Cost
B270

Travelling Time
3 1/2 hours

Match Ticket
B100

Programme
Free. Glossy A3 sheet folded into four. Includes both squad lists, a feature on TOT's Lee Jun Ki, fan club information and a brief article about Chonburi. The whole thing opens out to a large poster of aforementioned TOT player Lee Jun Ki. There weren't any available at the away end so I had to walk all the way round the other side of the ground to get one.

Club Shop
A couple of trestle tables and a clothes rack under two canvas awnings outside the main stand seemed to be the only merchandise outlet. Very old school.

Away End
Three quarters of the new uncovered metal stand down the touchline opposite the main stand. No seats and exposed to the elements - it poured down throughout the whole match. Clean toilets but very little else in the way of facilities.

Staff
Didn't really have that much contact with the staff. However, one of the stewards let my visiting female friend use the toilets under the main stand, even though she didn't have a ticket. The stewards in the away end seemed friendly enough and I saw one of them politely request that a Chonburi fan handed in his illicit beer can - which he did, without any fuss.

Food
I didn't buy any at the ground but it was easily available. A whole host of street vendors were selling the usual fayre through the railings at the back of the away stand.

Beer
Three cans of Leo for B100. Thankfully we could take beer into the ground providing it was in plastic cups. Very sensible.

Overall Experience
Pleasant enough, although being on a metal uncovered stand during a downpour and a storm isn't the best way to spend an evening. I was disappointed that we couldn't get a programme at our side of the ground but that's a minor gripe.
