Match Report
Make no mistake, this was every bit as comfortable as the scoreline suggests. Indeed there were periods during the first half when I honestly thought we'd get double figures. Our passing and movement was sublime and the team spirit, that has been mentioned by both Jadet and Michael Byrne this week, was there for all to see. These players look like they'd run through brick walls for each other.

As in the game against Pattaya, we started on the front foot and carved out chance after chance. Pipob On-Mo, playing his 100th match for Chonburi, was his usual ebullient self and a constant thorn in the side of a ragged looking defence. He was unlucky not to get a penalty early on after he seemed to be dragged back when clear on goal. He also went close to opening the scoring on another couple of occasions.

However, we had to wait until just after the half hour mark for the deadlock to be broken. Natthapong Samana made one of his dangerous runs down the left hand side and cut inside but, before he could release the ball, he was brought down just inside the box. There was no doubt in the referees mind and the spot kick was awarded. Up stepped Therdsak - 1-0. This was the cue for the floodgates to open. Chonburi were rampant now and received their just rewards when Arthit and Pipob added two more goals to secure a 3 - 0 half time lead.

In the second half we took our foot off the gas a little but Michael Byrne underlined our overall intent by adding a fourth, with a left foot shot which crept inside the far post. Strangely, this seemed to be the catalyst for the visitors to go on the offensive. They started to pour forward in numbers and, for the first time in the match, the Chonburi back four was put under pressure. So much so that TTM won a series of free kicks around the edge of the penalty area. And it was from one such free kick that they scored their goal - a dipping, curling effort from Roland Vargus, which left Sinthaweechai stranded.

Fortunately for the home fans there was to be no capitulation but Therdsak rounded off another inspiring individual display with his second goal to make the score 5-1 and send everyone home happy. It was another solid display by The Sharks and one which suggests, even this early in the season, that we are serious title contenders and determined to be up there fighting for honours when October comes around.
