Pre Match Haikus (Part One): 2014

When Masahiro Wada was appointed Chonburi head coach at the start of the 2014 season, I attempted to write a pre match Haiku for all our fixtures. Here are my efforts from February and March.

Haiku: a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllables divided into three lines of 5,7, and 5 syllables, and employing highly evocative allusions and comparisons.

9th February: Pre Season
Masahiro Wada
You are our new coach
You have come from Japan
Hope you're not rubbish

22nd February: Chonburi v Police Utd
The New Season
The new season starts
A large, expectant crowd waits
I bet we get beat

2nd March: Roi Et Utd v Chonburi
The League Cup
The League Cup first round
We play a team from Div One
We should win this match

8th March: Songkhla Utd v Chonburi
Back in League Action
Back in league action
A trip to the deep south, It's
A bloody long way!

15th March: Chonburi v Ratchaburi
Ratchaburi
Ratchaburi next
They've made a very good start
Ooh! We might get beat!

22nd March: BEC Tero v Chonburi
BEC Tero
Last Saturday they
Beat Buriram United
Yikes! Cripes! And gadzooks!

26th March: Chonburi v Bangkok Glass
Breaking Glass
As Nick Lowe once said
"I love the sound of breaking
glass." Crash, bang, wallop!

29th March: PTT Rayong
PTT Rayong
PTT away
Oil be surprised if we don't
Win this match today
